Even though the peak travel season is behind us, we are still having several visitors a day into the Museum! And there are several events planned for this winter!
Make plans to join us at the Museum for a very special Christmas observance and party on Sunday, December 10 at 5 pm, beginning with a Candlelight and Carol service at the 1888 Bethany Lutheran Church, and followed by a “potluck” reception inside the Museum main building. Special seasonal music will be provided by the Western Kansas ac capella men’s quartet “The Uncalled 4” both in the service and at the party! The church service will feature a traditional Lutheran liturgy and the church will be brightened with beautiful decor.
Bring your holiday spirit and a finger food to share on Sunday, December 10th!
On Tuesday, January 9, the Fort Wallace Museum will host a field tour and luncheon for the Kansas Alliance for Wetlands and Streams, as part of a multi-day conference about playa and wetland conservation that will be based in Colby. Farmers and landowners, keep your eyes out for upcoming information about this program, which will be a free. If you have an interest in participating in any part of this conference, please contact Jayne at 785.821.1864 or Joe Kramer at email@example.com.
On Wednesday, January 10, the Fort Wallace Museum will host the next Strategic Doing session as part of the Wallace County Foundation’s effort to determine the next rounds of Dane G. Hansen Community grant funding. Plan to come and eat a soup supper, as well as plan together on what our County needs and will accomplish!
The Museum has begun Winter visiting hours, as stated a couple of columns ago; The hours are Mon-Sat, 10-4 pm, and Sun 1-4 pm. (Previously had left off info for Saturdays!) We will be closed Thanksgiving Day, but will be open the rest of the weekend! We make a great place to bring visiting relatives for a fun group activity for all ages!
