Wallace County District Court Sentencings

On June 13, 2018, 5 individuals appeared in The Wallace County District Court for sentencing on charges stemming from a 41-person multi-county drug bust last August.

Adam Ford, Goodlamd, appeared with his lawyer, Zach Peterson, Norton. Ford plead “no contest” and was found guilty on April 2 on the charge of Distribution of Methamphetamine, a severity level 3, nonperson drug felony. This charge carries a standard sentence of 59 months in prison, however Ford was granted a downward departure to 59 months of probation in a plea agreement. In addition to probation, Ford will be required to register as a Drug Offender for 15 years after the date of completion. Ford has been ordered to pay $280 in restitution to The Wallace County Sheriff’s Office and $413 in addition court costs and fees associated with supervision.

Douglas Gibbs, Goodland, appeared with his lawyer, Etta Walker, Sharon Springs. Gibbs plead “no contest” and was found guilty on April 11 on the charge of Unlawful Distribution of Methadone, a severity level 4D nonperson drug felony. This charge carries a standard 15 month prison sentence, however Gibbs was granted a downward departure to 15 months of probation in a plea agreement. Gibbs will be required to register as a drug offender after completion of probation. Gibbs has been ordered to pay $50 in restitution to The Wallace County Sheriff’s Office, and $913 in court costs and other fees associated with his supervision.

Ryan White, Colby, appeared with his lawyer, Rob Gale, Syracuse. White plead “no contest” and was found guilty on May 16th on the charge of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, a severity level 3, nonperson, drug felony. This charge carries a standard 53 months prison sentence, however, White was granted a downward departure to 53 months of probation in a plea agreement. White will be required to register as a drug offender after completion of probation. White has been ordered to pay $250 in restitution to The Wallace County Sheriff’s Office, and $613 in court costs and other fees associated with his supervision.

Courtney Paige Hemmingson, appeared with her lawyer, Charles Worden, Norton. Hemmingson plead “no contest” and was found guilty on April 27th on the charge of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine, a severity level 4, nonperson, drug felony. This charge carries a standard 18 month prison sentence, however Hemmingson was granted a downward departure to 18 months of probation in a plea agreement. Hemmingson will be required to register as a drug offender after completion of probation. Hemmingson has been ordered to pay $1013 in court costs and other fees associated with her supervision.

Kristi Hartzell, Goodland, appeared with her lawyer, Heather Alwin, Colby. Hartzell plead “Guilty” on April 27th to the charge of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, a severity level 3, nonperson, drug felony. This charge carries a standard 48 month prison sentence, however Hartzell was granted a downward departure to 48 months of probation in a plea agreement. Hartzell will be required to register as a drug offender after completion of probation. Hartzell has been ordered to pay $270 in restitution to The Wallace County Sheriff’s Office, and $1013 in court costs and other fees associated with her supervision.
