Sharon Springs City Council - December 2019

The Sharon Springs City Council met in regular session Monday evening December 2, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Those present were Mayor Dennis Sharp, Council Members: Patrick Gibbs, Milton Tokoi, Kriss Wahlmeier, City Attorney Allan Hurlburt, City Clerk Theresa Hill, Stephani Klinge, Don Henderson and Amber Fischer.

Mayor Dennis Sharp called the regular meeting for December 2, 2019 to order at 7:00 p.m.   

Mr. Tokoi moved to approve the application for the 2020 Cereal Malt Beverage License for ‘The 27 40 Store, Inc.’; Mr. Gibbs seconded the motion, motion approved.

Mr. Gibbs moved to approve the application for the 2020 Cereal Malt Beverage License for ‘Miller Family Corporation’. Mr. Tokoi seconded the motion, motion approved. 

Mrs. Wahlmeier moved to approve the 2020 Cereal Malt Beverage License for ‘Towns End Tavern’. Mr. Gibbs seconded the motion, motion approved. 

Mr. Gibbs made the motion to approve Emily Bolen to the Library board to replace Doris Mote; Mr. Tokoi seconded the motion, motion approved.

Next on the agenda was the Old Library building. Council discussed what they would like to see happen with this building. Mr. Gibbs made the motion to put out ads in order to collect bids for the sale of the Old Library building, deadline for these will be January 31st, 5:00pm. Mr. Tokoi seconded the motion, motion approved.  

Mrs. Wahlmeier moved to approve the minutes of the November Regular meeting as presented. Mr. Tokoi seconded the motion, motion carried.   

Mr. Gibbs moved to accept payroll and vouchers as presented: voucher checks – 27905-27924; Manual Checks – 27925-27943, ACH # 288; payroll checks – 27944-27962, ACH #1, Mrs. Wahlmeier seconded the motion, motion approved.  

Mrs. Wahlmeier moved to approve all requisitions as presented, Mr. Gibbs seconded the motion; motion approved.

Interim City Coordinator Report: *Don Henderson reported on repairs that had been made to well #10.

City Attorney Report: * City Attorney Allan Hurlburt commended Mayor Dennis Sharp for his years of service to the City of Sharon Springs.

Council Member Reports: *Council discussed reviewing ordinances pertaining to building permits. *Mr. Gibbs then made the motion to give a $0.50/hr raise effective December 1st to Stephani Klinge. Mr. Tokoi seconded the motion, motion approved. *Mayor Sharp discussed the monitoring well at the landfill.       

City Clerk Report: Mrs. Hill asked the council about the work schedule for Christmas Eve. Mr. Gibbs made the motion to work half a day with the afternoon off with pay to all full time employees. Mrs. Wahlmeier seconded the motion, motion approved. *Mrs. Hill then informed the council that Options had put in a request. Mrs. Walhmeier made the motion to give Options $1,000.00, Mr. Gibbs seconded the motion, motion approved. *Mrs. Hill then presented some information regarding the KMEA Distribution Maintenance Program.

Water usage report for the water wells was included in the council packets.   

Mr. Gibbs moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:53 p.m.; Mr. Tokoi seconded the motion, motion approved.
