Mr. & Mrs. James Carmichael announced the engagement of their daughter, Marisa, to Charles G. McNall, son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul McNall.
The Fort Wallace Memorial Association honored their vice-president, Mayme Madigan, with a grand party in honor of her 94th birthday.
The public was invited to attend the Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers, Inc. program at the Lakin High School auditorium. Performers were welcomed as well.

The Sharon Springs baseball team got off to a winning start in the Western Plains League by defeating Levant 11-4, with Bernie Borst pitching.
The City Council asked for all bicycle riders to stop riding on sidewalks or they would pass an ordinance making the practice subject to fines.
The WCCHS senior class returned from their “Sneak” trip. They visited the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, the Royal Gorge, and the Colorado Penitentiary.
Calvin Duphorne won the bid for Mail Route No. 2. John Smyth, who had been carrying mail over both routes, won the bid to continue with Mail Route No. 1.
