On March 13th, 2019 Charlene Valdez appeared in Wallace County District Court with court appointed attorney Leslie Beims, Goodland in the matter of case number 2017 CR 42. Valdez had been charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, within 1,000’ of a school, a severity level 2, nonperson, drug felony, which carries a presumptive prison sentence up to 104 months. Valdez had plead guilty to the charge and was found guilty on December 19, 2018. Valdez appeared in court on March 13th for sentencing in the matter. Valdez was offered a downward departure of her sentence in exchange for pleading guilty. The Hon. Judge Showalter agreed to the terms of the plea agreement and granted probation to Valdez, who was ordered to pay $1332.20 in restitution, $193 in court costs, and $420 in related fees.
Stephanie Eby appeared in Wallace County District Court on March 13th with court appointed attorney Leslie Beims, Goodland for sentencing in the matter of case number 2018 TR 283. Eby had been charged with Permitting an Unauthorized Person to Drive in December of 2018. In exchange for pleading guilty, the Wallace County Attorney’s Office offered to recommend 6 months of supervised probation with a 30-day underlying sentence. Judge Showalter agreed to the terms of the agreement and placed Eby on supervised probation with court services. Eby was ordered to pay $100 in fines, $108 in court costs and $410 in related fees.
Karmen Mueller appeared in Wallace County District Court on March 13th with Leslie Beims, Goodland in the matter of case number 18 CR 25. Mueller plead guilty to Count 1 Domestic Battery. In exchange for pleading guilty, the Wallace County Attorney’s Office offered a diversion on Count 2, moved to dismiss Count 3, and offered to recommend 12 months of supervised probation with a 6-month underlying sentence. Judge Showalter agreed to the terms of the agreement and placed Mueller on supervised probation with court services. Mueller was ordered to pay a $100 fine and $158 in court costs.
On March 11, 2018, Matthew Hohmann appeared in Wallace County District Court by submission of a journal entry by the signature of his attorney Christopher Rohr, Colby, in the matter of case number 2018 CR 17. Hohmann had been charged with Count 1 Possession of a Hallucinogenic Drug a Class B misdemeanor, First Offense, and Count 2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The State agreed to dismiss Count 2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in exchange for Hohmann’s pleading guilty to an amended Count 1 Possession of a Marijuana, Class B misdemeanor, First Offense, which occurred June 17, 2018. The Hon. Steve Unruh assessed court costs in the amount of $158 and a $100 fine. Hohmann was further ordered to make a donation of $200 to the Wallace County Foundation, a $200 donation to the Wallace County Amusement Center, and a $200 donation to the Wallace County Senior Center.
