Commissioner Proceedings 11/29/22

The Wallace County Board of Commissioners met in regular session with, Larry Townsend, Chairman, Michael Cowles, Commissioner, Ronnie Hill, Commissioner, and Jacalyn Mai, County Clerk present.
Rebecca Larson entered the meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Townsend at 8:30 am.
Warrants 28660-28738 in the amount of $ 100,827.86 were approved for payment. Payroll warrants in the amount of $ 58,853.76 for the working period of November 13, 2022, through November 26, 2022, were approved for payment.
Commissioner Hill moved to approve the November 15, 2022, minutes. Commissioner Cowles seconded.

Clerk Mai presented the Employee and Sheriff holiday schedule for 2022.
Commissioner Cowles moved to approve the dates. Commissioner Hill seconded.

The board agreed to leaving the County Commissioners meetings to be held on the 2nd and Last Tuesday of each month.
Duane Barber entered the meeting to report on his department.
A light at the ball field has fallen off the post.
The heating/AC unit was repaired in the court office.
Everything has been winterized at the ballfield.
Connie Harrison entered the meeting.
Anthony Garcia, Road Supervisor entered the meeting to report on his department. He has visited with Thad about the detour routes when the highway project will be done.
Foley compactor after the first of the year for repairs.
Extension of the burn ban was discussed.
Commissioner Hill moved to adopt Resolution 2022-19 and set the burn level at Level One. Commissioner Cowles seconded.

RESOLUTION NO. 2022-19 was published in the December 1, 2022 issue of The Western Times.
Marshall Unruh, Sheriff entered the meeting. He has two inmates currently.
New pickup has been delivered and has been used.
Jennie Klinge & Kara Peter with the WCCCC entered the meeting. They let the board know that they do have several CNA’s taking classes.
They presented a list of expenses for November and December. They stated that they would possibly be needing to request funds from the county towards the end of December for the third payroll and other expenses they would be short on.
They presented the proposed 2023 budget for the WCCCCC. They are anticipating the shortage of $ 458,588.18 with no moneys granted to the WCCCC.
The commissioners along with incoming commissioner Rebecca Larson discussed putting a letter in the newspaper in regard to the Wallace County Community Care Center. Becky will write something up and send it to Clerk Mai to send out for the board members approval.
The Board agreed to put the 2007 International 4300 truck with ambulance box up for bids. This will be sealed bids only. The board reserves the right to refuse all bids. Bids are to be in the County Clerk’s Office by December 22, 2022 by 5:00 pm MT. Bids will reviewed on the December 27, 2022 meeting. For Sale ad is to be placed the Wallace County, KS Government page and also in the Western Times.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:50 am.
