Approval of Agenda:

Craig Sloan moved, seconded by Karli Springsteel to approve the agenda, as amended.  Motion carried 7 yea.

Approval of consent items: A-C

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Heath Perry to approve items A-C (warrants; financial reports; minutes), as presented.  Motion carried 7 yea.

Citizen concerns:

Matt Brown presented a slideshow on robotics.

Athletics —BB started last week; quiz bowl started today; CC finished up well at state; FB/VB finished their season; eligibility is steady for past month; buffer week this week; music honor choir-Jessie Smith; Drayton Pletcher; Journey Gibbs and Brooklyn Bussen; request for a music trip to Elitch Gardens for a large choir/choral performance in the spring; bus riders; speed bump placed in bus area; new heater needed in shop area; student/teacher connection through short biography of instructors; and forensics numbers

D. Supt/K-5 Prin.- Russell Orton

Inservice in Oakley-for all teachers on January 20; Ruby Paine, on poverty for $25.00 per person; gym floor covering for GS gym $2400.00; ACT scores from last year’s graduates were above state average; KASB annual conference in December; student teacher next semester-in music-Rebeccah Harmison, from Dighton; no news on wheelchair lift; December meeting is on the 9th—BB tournament going on—but Tuesday Dec 10th would work; Coach thank you’s for VB/FB/CC

1. Approve vaping policy

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Cecil Pearce to approve the vaping policy, as presented.  Motion carried 7 yea.

2. Discussion music trip - Denver

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Camron Funk to approve the music trip, in the spring.  Motion carried 7 yea.

3. Discussion senior trip

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Todd Selzer to approve the guidelines for senior trip, as amended.  Guidelines will be amended to---board will need to approve the itinerary in February; and, add trip will be taken either week before graduation or during spring break.  Motion carried 7 yea.

4. Asst coach resignation

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Heath Perry to accept the resignation from Chance Rains, as asst. Golf coach.  Motion carried 7 yea.

5. Address new school board

Ab Smith welcomed the newly elected board members to the meeting; he informed them that there are workshops/training for new/old board members that are very helpful to fully understand their position and duties as a board member.

Heath Perry moved, seconded by Karli Springsteel to accept the out-of-district application for Raylene Welsh, Tribune. Motion carried 7 yea.

Two (2) updated policies, per KSAB, will be approved in December.

Executive session: non-elected personnel

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Craig Sloan to go into executive session for five (5) minutes, for the discussion of non-elected personnel, to protect the privacy rights of said person and return to this room at 7:50 p.m...  Mr. Orton is invited in.  Motion carried 7 yea.

Karli Springsteel moved, seconded by Todd Selzer to go into executive session for ten (10) minutes, for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, to protect the privacy rights of said person, and return to this room at 8:00 p.m.  Mr. Orton is invited in.  Motion carried 7 yea.

Camron Funk moved, seconded by Karli Springsteel to go into executive session for fifteen (15) minutes, for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, to protect the privacy rights of said person, and return to this room at 8:20 p.m.  Mark Kuhlman, Stephanie Johnson, Ross Cox and Chance Rains were invited in.  Motion carried 7 yea.

Todd Selzer moved, seconded by Karli Springsteel to go into executive session for ten (10) minutes, for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, to protect the privacy rights of said person, and return to this room at 8:30 p.m.  Mark Kuhlman, Stephanie Johnson, Ross Cox and Chance Rains were invited in.  Motion carried 7 yea.

Craig Sloan moved, seconded by Todd Selzer to go into executive session for ten (10) minutes, for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, to protect the privacy rights of said person, and return to this room at 8:40 p.m.  motion carried 7 yea. 

Cecil Pearce moved, seconded by Karli Springsteel, to go into executive session for fifteen (15) minutes, for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel, to protect the privacy rights of said person, and return to this room at 9:15 p.m...  Mr. Orton is invited in.  Motion carried 7 yea.

The board and Mr. Orton returned at 9:08 p.m.
