Loren Wesley Luther

Loren Wesley Luther, age 77, of Sharon Springs passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022.  He was born March 27, 1945 to Lloyd and Thelma (Mather) Luther in Oakley, Kansas. 
He grew up in western Logan county and went to grade school at Winona Consolidated School, one year in Brewster and then graduated from Winona in 1965.  He married Greta “Rita” Wimer, to this union Lloyd Allen and Brian Wayne were born. 
Loren worked in a sawmill in Longview, Washington, until they moved back to Kansas to help on the farm until they sold the farm, then he worked at a dairy, farming and ranching, and at a foundry in Salina.  After an accident he returned to Sharon Springs where Loren and his son, Brian started B&L Construction until he retired in 2005.  During his retirement he enjoyed doing odd jobs, cutting wood, gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. 
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lloyd Alan; brother, Lyle Eugene. 
Loren is survived by his friend, Darlene Freytag of Goodland; son, Brian (Connie) Luther of Norton, KS; grandsons, Drew Riley of North  Dakota, Blaine Luther of North Platte, NE; and granddaughter, Chalee Luther of Goodland, KS; brothers, Phillip (Carolyn) Luther of Longview, WA and Michael (Diane) Luther of Goodland; sister Margaret “Peggy” (John) Chitwood of Mountain View, AR; aunt, Rosalee Chaney of Wakeeney, KS; and a host of many more family and friends.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, August 10, 2022 10 a.m. MT at Calvary Gospel Church,  6296 Highway 27, Goodland. Memorials may be designated to Loren Luther Memorial Fund and may be left at the service or sent in care of Bateman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 278, Goodland, Kansas 67735.
