Jeanne Janelle Hale
Jeanne Janelle Hale passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2021 at the age of 79 at Sunny Vista Living Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Janelle will be remembered as an independent, creative, loving and kind person who cherished her family.
Janelle was born on September 24, 1941 in Sunray, Texas to Jesse and Jean (Palmer) Upton. After graduating from Maud High School, she married Ronnie Lee Hale. Although their marriage did not last forever, their son, David Lee Hale, was Janelle’s pride and joy. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from East Central Oklahoma State in Ada, and her Masters from Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford. She taught kindergarten and art in Binger, OK for more than 20 years. After retiring, Janelle settled in Bartlesville, OK where she helped care for her parents. In 2014, she moved to Sharon Springs, KS, where she enjoyed being closer to Dave and his family.
Lovingly known as Nell or Nana to her family, Janelle will be remembered for her love of art, gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting and her devotion to family. She loved spending time in the mountains, and was a collector of Santas, roosters and family photos. She was extremely close to her sister, Judy, and she adored her granddaughters.
Janelle was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Jean. She is survived by her sister Judy (Loyd) Stephens of Edmond, OK; son David (Julie) Hale of Fort Garland, CO; grandchildren Brynne (Jordan) Basye of Peyton, CO; Kelsey Hale of Colorado Springs, CO; McKenna Hale of Colorado Springs, CO; a great-granddaughter Emberlyn Basye; as well as two nephews and their families.
The family would like to thank the Wallace County Community Care Center of Sharon Springs, KS, Sunny Vista Living Center of Colorado Springs and Bridges Community Homecare and Hospice of Colorado Springs who so graciously cared for Janelle.
