Roland R. Murphy
Roland “Ron” R. Murphy, age 82, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on July 12, 1938, in Ford, Kansas, the son of Arthur & Ella Clark Murphy. Ron moved to Shallow Water, Kansas in 1967 and then was a resident of Scott City, Kansas from 1968 until moving to Wallace, Kansas, in 2016. He was a mechanic, truck driver, and service station operator.
He was a member of the Kansas Antique Racers, Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Car Association, and the Colorado Vintage Oval Racers. Ron’s other activities included Vintage Cars, Race Cars, Horses, operating a fireworks stand with his wife, Avis, and family for 36 years and also worked for Becker Corporation and his mechanic shop, Ron’s Service.
On April 4, 1959, he married Avis Robbins in Dodge City, Kansas. She passed away on December 5, 2010 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include his One Daughter - Ronda & Mel Brown of Haviland, Kansas, One Son - K.B. & Camille Murphy of Wallace, Kansas, One Brother - Francis Murphy of Callahan, California, Eight Grandchildren - Cody & Keshia Brown of Greensburg, Kansas, Dustyn & Iya Brown of Newton, Kansas, Hannah Brown of Haviland, Kansas, Kenli & Rook Shaw of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Kaitlyn Murphy of Otis, Kansas, Kadin Murphy of Wallace, Kansas, Kolbey Murphy of Wallace, Kansas, Kyler Murphy of Wallace, Kansas, Five Great Grandchildren - Brandon Brown, Avis Shaw, Gunnar Shaw, Connor Scott, and Reece Brown.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, One Sister - Naomi Riegel, and Two Brothers - Don Keyes and Dean Keyes.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding. Services will be streamed live on Facebook at Price and Sons Funeral Home page (www.facebook.com/priceandsons) starting at 1:55 p.m.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials in Lieu of Flowers can be made to the Roland Murphy Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home; PO Box 553; Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
Visitation will be from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
