Mummifying a Chicken

Tutankhamun, known as King Tut, was the 12th Pharaoh of the 18th Egyptian Dynasty. He accomplished very little during his reign. He died at the age of nineteen around 1324 B.C. 
It took around 70 days to mummify his body. When mummifying a chicken, it only takes around 40 days. That is because the chicken is much smaller than a human. 
The Wallace County Homeschool Group is mummifying chickens, and it is a long process. You must get a preprepared chicken, bathe it in rubbing alcohol, weigh and measure it, put it in two cups of baking soda mixed with a full container of iodized salt, and put it in a Ziploc bag with the chicken. Then you dump the remaining of the mixture in the Ziploc bag, then put the bag in a second Ziploc bag. 
You must weigh, measure, and put two new cups of baking soda and new salt again. You need to take notes on the weight, length, color, texture, and the smell so that you know what changes are made during the mummifying process. 
You must repeat this every week from the day you started it, for twelve weeks. 
This is a very time-consuming but fun experience. We can't wait to show you our mummified chickens when they are completed!
