Commissioner Proceedings 10/8/24

December 12, 2024

The Wallace County Board of Commissioners met in regular session with, Larry Townsend, Chairman, Michael Cowles, Commissioners, Becky Larson, Commissioner, and Micaila Lock, County Clerk present.   
Warrants # 31800-31852 in the amount of $ 44,541.49 were approved for payment. Payroll warrants in the amount of $71,553.86 for the working period of September 15, 2024, through September 28, 2024, were approved for payment. 
Brian Gailey entered the meeting
Chairman Townsend called the meeting to order at 8:32 am
Kathy McDaniel representing Senior Center entered the meeting 
Kathy discussed the door bids to see if we have received any more bids. She also discussed the sidewalk at the entry way and getting it repaired.
Duane Barber, Building and grounds Supervisor entered the meeting.
Duane discussed the breaker box at the recycling building needing replaced. Along with discussing people that have asked if they can stay at the roping arena overnight to let their horses out overnight. He talked about the sprinklers at Hope Springs and repairing what needs repaired
Anthony Garcia, Road and Bridge Supervisor entered the meeting
Anthony discussed the cattle guard up on blue bird and having Joe Martinek go up and look at it with him to discuss what needs to be done. He talked about getting everything fixed while it is too dry to blade.
Doug Springsteel, Landfill supervisor, entered the meeting
Doug gave updates on landfill and showed the inspection sheet that showed a good inspection.
Marshall Unruh, Sheriff entered the meeting
Marshall gave updates on his department.
Chairman Townsend made a motion to approve the September 24th, 2024, minutes as amended. Commissioner Larson Second.

Kim Frodin, County Appraiser entered the meeting
Kim discussed the travel policy to make sure she read the policy correctly
Lissa Sexson, Wallace County Community Development entered the meeting
Lissa discussed the housing incentive, hiring incentive, KDOT cost share for smoky hill river low water crossing project, KDOT safe route to school with KDOT and Toole Design will be in Wallace County October 15th and 16th to do surveys in Weskan and Sharon Springs. Getting Suggestions for next year’s music series. 
Eileen Porubsky, Representing Hope Springs entered the meeting.
Eileen discussed the chairs for the dining room, getting the new ovens that are more functional for the 3 meals they cook a day. Along with discussing how everything is going with staff and residents. She talked about the lift chairs that have not been working properly and getting someone out to look at them to get them fixed.
Chairman Townsend moved for the immediate replacement of the stove and oven at hope springs. Commissioner Larson Seconded.

Brian looked at the electrical panels to help ensure that we order the correct stoves for Hope Springs.
