BOARD OF EDUCATION MINUTES

SPECIAL MEETING, September 22, 2025

The Board of Education of Unified School District 242, Wallace County, Kansas, met in special session, September 22, 2025, at 7:00pm in the board room with President Eric Purvis presiding.

CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Purvis called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Members Present: Mr. Aaron Aldridge, Mr. Gabe Cox, Mr. Eric Purvis, Mr. Kyle Riedel, Mr. Macy Sexson, Mrs. Christine Smith

OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. John Cox (Superintendent), Mrs. Heavenly McQuillan (Clerk)

MOMENT OF REFLECTION

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:        

Mrs. Smith (Mr. Riedel) moved to approve the agenda as presented.

Motion carried 6-0.

NEW ITEM

The board and staff were in a work session meeting for board policy updates.

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Cox (Mr. Sexson) moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:17pm. Motion carried 6-0.

The Board of Education of Unified School District 242, Wallace County, Kansas, met in special session, September 24, 2025, at 7:00pm in the board room with President Eric Purvis presiding.

Mr. Purvis called the meeting to order.

Members Present: Mr. Aaron Aldridge, Mr. Gabe Cox, Mr. Eric Purvis, Mr. Kyle Riedel, Mr. Macy Sexson, Mrs. Christine Smith

OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. John Cox (Superintendent), Mrs. Heavenly McQuillan (Clerk)

MOMENT OF REFLECTION

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:        

Mr. Sexson (Mr. Cox) moved to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 6-0.

NEW ITEM

The board and staff were in a work session meeting to finalize board policy updates.

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Purvis declared the meeting adjourned at 8:44pm.

EMERGENCY MEETING, September 26, 2025

The Board of Education of Unified School District 242, Wallace County, Kansas, met in an emergency meeting session, September 26, 2025, at 4:15pm in the board room with President Eric Purvis presiding.

CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Purvis called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Members Present: Mr. Aaron Aldridge (phone), Mr. Gabe Cox, Mr. Eric Purvis, -Mr. Kyle Riedel, Mr. Macy Sexson, Mrs. Christine Smith

OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. John Cox (Superintendent) (phone), Mrs. Heavenly McQuillan (Clerk), Mrs. Laura Sexson (Asst. Principal)

MOMENT OF REFLECTION

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:        

Mrs. Smith (Mr. Sexson) moved to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 6-0.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Mr. Sexson (Mrs. Smith) moved to enter into executive session at 4:20pm to discuss matters relating to personnel.  He further moved to return to the open session at 4:50 pm.  The justification for the executive session is non-elected personnel exception under KOMA.  The purpose for the executive session is to protect the privacy rights of an identifiable individual. Mr. John Cox and Mrs. Laura Sexson was invited to attend. Motion carried 6-0. Meeting reconvened at 4:50pm.

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Cox (Mr. Sexson) moved to approve the No Trespass Order as presented. Motion carried 6-0

ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Purvis declared the meeting adjourned at 4:54pm.
