Commissioner Proceedings 5/7/25 Special

May 24, 2025

The Wallace County Board of Commissioners met in a special session with Becky Larson, Chairperson Will Walker, Commissioner, Brian Gailey, Commissioner, and Micaila Lock, County Clerk present.  

Lissa Sexson, Wallace County Community Development entered the meeting.
Doug Hutchison, Developer, entered the meeting 
Verlan Wagoner, Sharon Springs Mayor entered the meeting  
Ab Smith, Sharon Spring City Councils member entered the meeting 
Chair Larson called the meeting to order at 2:30 P.M.

Doug discussed how he got into this business housing development for the cities that have housing issues in towns that are growing. The state sent him to help develop housing in cities that the state suggests to him. He discussed where he sees the perfect spot for development for housing. The RHID housing that pays for the property, RLF revolving loan forgive that gets paid back, KHITC, Hanson foundation which is where the people buying the housing will help in the long run. Looking at a single-family home or developing duplexes. Discussion on what the future would be to get the process started and getting the lot prepped for the housing development for 3 bedrooms and 2 bath duplexes and single-family homes.

Verlan discussed whether the county would be willing to give up the property to develop on.

Lissa talked about him possible wanting to build some single-family homes open lots throughout the city of Sharon Springs. She explained how RHID works for the developer. Discuss who would be the one that sales the house or duplexes. The developer would be willing to work with the local contractors.

Commissioner Gailey made a motion to move forward to have developer. Commissioner Walker seconded.
