CALL TO ORDER
The Board of Education of Unified School District 242, Wallace County, Kansas, met in regular session at 7:00 pm in the Board Room on February 12th 2024 with Board President Eric Purvis presiding.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Mr. Gabe Cox (Mr. Nolan Cox) moved to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 5-0.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Macy Sexson (Mr. Kyle Riedel) moved to approve the minutes of the January meeting as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

COMMUNICATIONS TO AND FROM THE BOARD
Teachers Report: Mrs. Laura Sexson reported on the teachers report.
Principal’s Report: Mr. Montero talked about finishing up evaluations, meeting with seniors and parents about senior trip; the end of the year field trips for elementary and Jr. High/High school kids.
Superintendent’s Report: Mr. John Cox spoke about board clerk training extension; insurance quote; legal max projections; open position updates; apprentice teacher program; property inspections; security work; planning a summer board retreat; purchase a district smart cell phone; XELLO.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mr. Macy Sexson (Mr. Gabe Cox) moved to enter into executive session at 7:45 pm to discuss performance and perspective employment, and to return to the open session at 8:00 pm. The justification for the executive session is to discuss matters relating to student matters. The purpose for the executive session is to protect the privacy rights of an identifiable individual. Mr. John Cox and Mr. Montero were invited to attend. Motion carried 5-0. The meeting reconvened at 8:00 pm.
Mr. Macy Sexson (Mr. Kyle Riedel) moved to enter into executive session at 8:05 pm to discuss performance and perspective employment, and to return to the open session at 8:15 pm. The justification for the executive session is non-elected personnel exception under KOMA. The purpose for the executive session is to protect the privacy rights of an identifiable individual. Mr. John Cox was invited to attend. Motion carried 6-0. The meeting reconvened at 8:15 pm.

Mr. Gabe Cox (Mr. Kyle Riedel) moved to enter into executive session at 8:40 pm to discuss performance and perspective employment, and to return to the open session at 8:55 pm. The justification for the executive session is non-elected personnel exception under KOMA. The purpose for the executive session is to protect the privacy rights of an identifiable individual. Mr. John Cox were invited to attend. Motion carried 6-0. The meeting reconvened at 8:55pm.
PERSONNEL:
Mr. Macy Sexson (Mr. Gabe Cox) moved to approve the hiring of Charla Cox for the social/emotional counselor at $18.00/hour, not to exceed 40 hours per month; Laura Sexson, Assistant Principal/Teacher at $53,500; Shirley Moore as Full-time lead cook at $14/hour; Mike Mireles as Assistant Cook at $12/hour not to exceed 32 hours per week. Motion carried 6-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Mr. Gabe Cox (Mr. Kyle Riedel) moved to approve the superintendent/principal contract; Motion carried 6-0
